The Common Man

I wake up one morning to see changes in the trend,
I wonder, how much can one pretend?
Taxes to pay, no money to spend…
When will all this stupidity end?

I gamble, I fall - my hands I burn,
I think, I try - to raise my earn!
I jump, I switch – my position to turn,
I grow, I age – when will I learn?

The salary that comes with a T-D-S…
With this tax, did the country progress?
Money with the b-crats who bribe the press…
News flashes to have the common man digress!!

To be a b-crat I need to go to jail…
I’ll commit a crime and get out on bail!
I cannot be educated – I have to fail…
Do a fodder scam – be in-charge of the rail!

Stats show there is so much of black money,
wonder where they counted that without accountability?
I work for the govt – I hardly earn anything miss!!
But I own bunglows, cars to name a few, the rest lies in swiss!

Why should we bribe for our own right?
Scams exposed but no justice in sight!
Is this what we get – to be “human”?
wake up ‘o’ wake up – “The Common Man”!!!

I’m looking around – I see black and white,
Something’s amiss, something’s not right quite…
Far away in my sight,
There is a gang, a mob beneath a light!

Its dark around except for the distance,
No one to ask around for assistance…
I walk, I trot, I jog, I run,
Get out of the dark, I need some sun !

Alas, I get into the famous square,
Ah – the joy, with whom should I share…
Suddenly I feel soaked and wet,
Silence broken – people I met!

Powdery colors in the sky,
Almost all which can meet the eye…
well they thought that I was the bait,
Hello… I too got colors on my plate…

Air, colors, water, dust…
Eggs and mud – for some those are a must!
This is the day – friends don’t trust…
they’ll make you drown in colors to rust!

Bhaang and raang are the desi terms,
wash ur hands – keep out the germs!
Stains are gonna last a bit …
That’s what we call – the “holi spirit”!!

Splash and dash, enjoy the beat, drink - don’t drive …. Happy Holi … !!

New Beginning!

Another year where new hopes are set,
Age being an enemy – new benchmarks to be met…
Cultures’ changing, what’s done yet?
Earning to sustain or sustaining the debt!

Understand the truth, change the way,
Another perspective or just another day?
Goals to seek, boundaries to overcome,
Rags to riches – or a mansion to a slum??

Every coin has a flip side,
when tossed, even the coin can’t decide…
Rules for the poor, the rich never abide!
Why let someone take you for a ride?

Do what you want, one life you’ve got,
Happiness is something that cannot be bought!
When you’re alive, let others forget you not…
When you’re dead – let them rejoice on your thought!

Let success define the story,
not the mere winning!
Let them talk about your glory,
Motivating every new beginning!!
